Forum Guide

Throughout this program, group discussion will take place within the Sutrayana online environment. Each small group, led by a Meditation Instructor (MI), has a dedicated discussion forum that is accessible only to members of that group. This Forum Guide will give you a brief overview on how to access your group’s forum and how to use this tool to engage in discussion.

Accessing the Forum

To access the forum click the 'Forum' link in the main navigation menu at the top of the window (see image below). This link will take you to the discussion questions for the current unit.

Additionally, you will find the forum in the 'Discussion' sections of each unit as well as at the end of each of the Teacher's Blog posts.

Accessing a Category

Within the forum there are two categories for you to view. The first is the forum for your Meditation Instructor Group. You may access this by clicking on the group named after your Meditation Instructor in the forum. This is where you will answer unit Discussion Questions and engage further with your MI Group.

The second category you will want to access is the 'Teacher's Blog Discussion' area. This area is relevant to the blog posts Neil will be making throughout the course of the program.

Posting in the Forum

Once you have entered the forum category you would like to post in. You may either respond to an existing topic or start a new one.

To start a new topic click the 'Start New Topic' button in the top right of the forum.

To respond to an existing topic click the title of the topic you would like to respond to.

Replying to a Post

If you have entered an existing forum topic and would like to respond to a post there, you have three options.

1. Use the 'POST A REPLY' button at the top right of the screen.

2. Use the 'Write a reply' box at the bottom of the forum.

Click in the box that says 'Write a reply' ...

... type your response, and click the post button.

3. Use the 'QUOTE' button to create a reply with a direct quote referencing exactly the post or portion of a post that you would like to respond to.

To quote a post, click the 'QUOTE' button at the bottom right hand side of the post you would like to reference.

**Note to quote only a portion of the selected post delete everything between the appearing quote brackets except what you want to quote.

For example, if I only wanted to quote the last sentence of the above post, my quote would look like this.
